4 Crochet podcasts I love

Keep Calm and Carry Yarn, the podcast I host with my mom, was featured in the latest issue of Inside Crochet! I’m still doing somersaults inside my head because I can hardly believe, what started as a fun project between me and my mom has lead us here. And by “here,” I mean published in a magazine, but also still podcasting over three years later for our small but lovely audience. And if it weren’t for the podcast, I probably wouldn’t have become so in love with crochet, or have begun my designing journey!

To celebrate our inclusion in Inside Crochet, I thought I’d share 4 other crochet podcasts I love!

The Crochet Circle

Hosted by Fay, The Crochet Circle is without a doubt one of my favorite crafting podcasts. Other than being straight-up lovely and incredibly warm, Fay is crazy knowledgable. It doesn’t matter what she’s talking about, there’s always some carefully considered research that’s gone into it. Sometimes it’s from first hand experience, like when she reviews yarn. Other times, Fay passes on tips and tricks from her listeners. Being part of the Crochet Circle community is also part of the joy of the podcast.

Fay actively encourages community building through her engagement with her listeners, as well as through events like her Global Hookups which are virtual crafting nights free for anyone to join. And in case you need more reasons to love her, Fay also runs Provenance Craft, is passionate about sustainability and natural fibers, publishes amazingly thorough patterns, and she’s Scottish!

You can catch The Crochet Circle on YouTube and on your favorite podcast streaming app. New episodes drop on the first Friday of every month.

crochetcakes

Clarisabeth is the host of crochetcakes, and as a side note, her mom also hosts a podcast called Mind and Muse Crafts. I love Clarisabeth because her infectious, bubbly personality shines clearly through the camera and her energy is infectious. And she often chats about her personal life, so watching an episode of crochetcakes is a lot like catching up with a friend.

Because Clarisabeth lives in Florida, she focuses on summery projects. There’s lots of cotton, short-sleeved garments, and lacy stitches to admire! She also shares her non-crochet endeavours like sewing, knitting and baking.

I admire Clarisabeth for sharing her personal journey as a crocheter and designer. She speaks openly about her design process, about how she wants to make crochet her business, as well as the struggles that are involved.

You can check out the crochetcakes blog for lots of free patterns and tutorials, and YouTube to watch every episode of the podcast!

Zeens & Roger

I dare you to watch Zeens & Roger and not want to immediately be Rosina’s friend. Her self-deprecation is so disarming and she’s maybe a wee bit disorganised (by her own admision), but in a totally relatable way!

Rosina has a way with color and I love seeing how she’s combines colors in interesting ways. A lot of her own designs are a super fresh take on traditional crochet motifs, like granny squares, C2C and chevron stitches.

You can watch episodes of Zeens & Roger on YouTube.

Crochet Luna

If you love a crochet-along, then you’ll get a lot out of Claudia’s vlogcast, Crochet Luna. And because Claudia is all about sharing joy, many of the CALs are co-hosted with other YouTubers and podcasters! Just take her latest episode (40)… she chats about four different CALs and MALs! There’s always an opportunity to crochet along with Claudia.

I love Claudia because she is a social justice champion. She is vocal about her beliefs and transparent of her own anti-racist journey. And as the Operations Manager of Lady Dye Yarns she is part of their mission of craftivism, diversity and inclusion.
